Clamping Tip

This is not nessarily a tip. It's more of an observation.

As you all know I use wood clamps. The main reason I use wood clamps is so I dont destroy a $60 bit if I hit one. Beirlive me, at some point you will hit a clamp with a bit.

I have a rule of thumb when using wood clamps. If I am using a 1/8" bit I will use two wood clamos at the rear of the stock, and two wood clamps at the right of the stock. I also use a final wood clamp in the 0,0 corner.

For 1/4" bits I will add on or more clamps to the rear and right of the stock.

This is all based on cutting at 50-100IPM. If I increase the cutting speed I will increase the number of clamps. Now not all clamps need to be on the stock. In some cases I will place a clamp up against the side of the stocke to keep the stock from sliding.
