Can you provide some info and recommendations on breakout boards? Any personal experiences?

The book, the setup and configuration are centered arround the Geco G540 controller. The G540 does not require a breakout board, which one reason I chose it as our controller.

If you dont have a PC with a parallel port you have two choices.
1. Purchase a PCI or PCIExpress card and add it to your machine.
2. Purchase a Smooth Stepper and use it to connect to the G540.
For information on the smooth stepper please watch the advanced or upgrade forums for updates, as I have oredered one and will be documenting its hookup.

Please note that the term "breakout board" refers to board that conncets to your parallel port and provides pin level connections to controllers that dont have direct Parallel conections.
