I recently built a new CNC PC and everything seemed to work fine except any thing connected to ports 12 and 13 on the parallel cable did not work. In this case it was my Estop and Probe. After swapping the cable and testing another PC I decided to take a look into the bios.
Sure enough the port was set to ECP. I promptly changed the setting to EPP and all was good.
This was an older board as most modern mother boards with parallel ports seem to default to EPP. This is just a reminder to take a look at the bios if you encounter problems.
