I want to start adding voice overs to my videos. Here is my very first attempt.
I have to tell you, it looks a lot easier than it is. It is going to take me a while to get into the groove.

I write training for a living and deal with voice artists all the time.
Try recording while standing up, and using your hands (like an Italian).
You'll be surprised.

Back in my early years I did a lot of stage acting. On the stage everything is exaggerated. I sounds like you have to do that with voice acting.
I have a lot to learn doing this kind of thing. I'm sure things will get better as I do more. I just got the correct microphones/mounts/interfaces to get the technical issues ironed out.
I'm still trying to work out my shtick.

What is your end goal with the video's? Are you trying to become a youtube video producer with subscribers so get ad revenue or are you just trying to make your video's clearer for instruction manuals? I think knowing this will help work out how you go about producing the videos.
Re: My first Voice Over Video
Honestly, I have no interest in becoming a youtuber. That can be a full time job in its self. I just want to take the videos to the next level.
I take a lot of pictures and videos as I build things and experiment. Even if I don't intend on making those experiments public. (Some are complete failures). Later I can write up a web page or two and create a couple videos. Its just become part of my workflow.
My Lab is located in section 5 of my shop. This is where I do my website editing, video editing, and 2D and 3D editing, and book writing. It works well for me. It is a pretty simple task to add voice overs to the videos without chaining my production workflow. My video editor has provisions for that.
All that said, I just want to make sure the voice overs do help. If not its not work the extra effort I have to put into them. I can create 5 videos without voice over in the same time it takes me to do one voice over. I'm sure that will get better in time though.

But the failures are the best learning experiences!
Yes, like acting, exaggerating the voice-over makes it livelier. As opposed to reading a script in a flat voice (which you are NOT doing!)
After a while you can get to the point where you CAN read a script and make it sound like stream-of-consciousness speech.
Me, I have a face made for radio and a voice made for silent movies...
Edit: Hand-holding that bar while drilling big is...uh...Brave.

Most of the time the fence is in place in case it snags. And it has a few times. That's more of a problem on the large drill press. On this little one it is so under powered. If it catches, it will just stall.
